Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookies


3/4 c. all purpose flour

1 cup whole wheat flour

2 tsp freshly grated ginger (less if using powder)

1 egg

1/2 active sourdough starter

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup white sugar

1 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup walnuts

Beat together butter, sugars, ginger, and the eggs. Add starter and flours. Mix in chips and walnuts.

Form cookie dough balls. Let rise for 2 hours. Cook at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes. 

This was made without table salt and baking soda or baking powder. If you don't have time to let the cookies rise, you can add 1/4 tsp soda and 1/2 tsp baking power. You can add 1 tsp salt also.
